Keith-
Here is an event that would get you into something different than running. http://www.chelanman.com
Consider a sprint or perhaps an olympic distance. You could likely get Joe to do the swim if you wanted to do a bike-run event.
Just some thoughts

Sam, are you going to target this as your half-iron event for 2007? I bet Joe will be back in condition and ready to do a half-iron by then also.
I’ll put it on my calendar, but it’s almost February and I haven’t learned how to swim yet.

Joe is doing STP I think. I’ll check but I am guessing that it is 1 or 2 weeks before this event. Thus, Joe is likely not up for this one.
My hope is to get this one in. But if an injury (calf) occurs, I can regroup and perhaps get one in September (black diamond).
Joe should be a good person to train the bike leg with as he’ll be doing the double century close to the same time.

You’re right, STP is July 14 and 15. You’re not doing STP this year?
